GHC - Remodel Project: Light and bright
When repeat customers called us to bring their
1980s-era kitchen into the current century, we responded with a clean
Northwest look. Keeping the original configuration in tact, we put our
cabinet-building skills to work to create these more functional Douglas
fir originals. The new, larger island features a raised counter surface
and a space-maximizing location for the microwave. And no more blue
counter tops! The new granite completes the sleek cabinet design. Improved
lighting as well as new paint and windows brighten up the space.
GHC - Remodel Project: Weekend retreat
revitalized
For empty nesters who wanted to retire to their
weekend retreat, GHC blended the old with the new to create more space out
of this vintage A-frame. After a complete remodel of the existing
1,000-square-foot structure and a two-story addition, we created a
three-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath living space that now encompasses 2,300
square feet. Key features are an update to the large windows to take in
Puget Sound views, an heirloom wood cook stove along with a river rock
fireplace, ash hardwood floors throughout, and hemlock and Douglass fir
millwork.

Project: An inviting kitchen
A barrier-free kitchen was what this culinary couple ordered. We
created a singular, open space that allows those at work in the kitchen to
easily interact with their guests. The renewed space features an island
cook top facing the entertaining area, dark cherry cabinets, black granite
countertops, and stainless appliances and accents. To unify the space, we
extended the oak hardwood flooring into the dining room and updated the
fireplace with ledge stone.

Project: Updated view home
GHC transformed this outdated home in a great location into a
modern showpiece that takes full advantage its surroundings. To open up
this home to its great views, we pitched the roof, vaulted the ceiling and
added lots of windows. The expanded kitchen with breakfast nook also takes
advantage of the expansive Puget Sound views. Our design team chose to
make the required lateral support a tasteful design element with steel
brackets and bolts. And natural materials in warm tones throughout help to
evoke a Northwest feel.

Project: Open space for entertaining
With grandchildren now in the family picture, the owners of this
home wanted more open space for easier entertaining. GHC moved an exterior
wall, eliminated an interior wall and replaced the breakfast bar with a
center island to open up the kitchen and dining space. All new cherry
cabinets, granite counter tops and wood laminate flooring add warmth while
new appliances improve performance. Other updates include larger, more
energy-efficient windows, a new cherry credenza in the family room that
ties in with the cabinets, and a granite facelift for the fireplace.
GHC - Remodel
Project: Complementary Makeover
The owner brought in architect Bret Drager to design an exterior makeover
of this 1950's vacation cabin that would better complement its wooded,
lakefront surroundings. A new A-framed roof was built to replace the flat
original and make room for vaulted ceilings in the interior. Western red
cedar siding and view enhancing Milgard windows completed the cabin's new
Northwest look.

GHC - Remodel
Project: Revitalization Space
Tired of their trademark 1970's kitchen, the owners wanted a brighter look
plus additional space in their McCormack Woods home. In the total kitchen
remodel, all new custom cabinets, granite countertops, and a centrally
located island revitalized the space. It opens into the new
family room, where Milgard skylights and windows bring more natural light
into the living area.

GHC - Remodel
Project: A Classic Remodel
The owners wanted to turn their unfinished basement used for storage into
attractive, multifunctional living space. This classic remodel ultimately
created a cozy, new family room with a ledge stone fireplace and a wet bar
featuring custom birch cabinetry. It also added a new guest bedroom, bath,
and home office as well as exercise and laundry rooms.
